Beyond the Weekend

August 6 | Hearing, Doing, Growing

August 6, 2021

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Read: Matthew 5
Matthew 5

As Jesus comes to the end of his Sermon on the Mount, he wants his teaching to be taken seriously and put into practice. He wants his listeners to hear what he says, do it in every level of their lives and keep growing in their understanding.

No one can do this on their own. Thankfully, God has given us everything we need. First, when we commit our life to follow Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us and empowers us to obey (2 Corinthians 1:21-22). The second is we gain a family with other believers. The narrow road Jesus speaks of in Matthew 7:14 is challenging to navigate and can be lonely. To hear, do and grow—we need like-minded people to instruct, encourage and support us. Living in church community is imperative.

At Ada Bible Church, there are three environments for everyone to grow in their faith. The Row (weekend services) is pursuing righteousness through worship, song, prayer and weekend teachings. The Circle (small groups) is pursuing righteousness learning from Scripture, praying, receiving friendship and giving support with a small group of others. The Chair (alone time with God) is pursuing righteousness to soak in his Word, pray and fellowship with God one-on-one.

Which of these do you need to reengage in this summer? Worship in The Row at any campus  or online. Find The Circle right for you whether you are curious about Jesus, a new believer or a life-long Jesus-follower. And fellowship with God in The Chair by continuing to use Beyond the Weekend and joining us as we read through the New Testament this year.

Join us this year as we read through the New Testament.

Today’s reading is 2 Corinthians 6.
