TODAY’S MESSAGE

People are stunned sitting on a mountainside listening to Jesus preach. He takes what is familiar and turns it We have spent months looking at one of Jesus’s most famous sermons known as the Sermon on the Mount. We opened the Scriptures to study The Lord’s Prayer and the Beatitudes. This week, we’re reminded of Jesus’s character and who he calls his followers to be. A central theme of the last two weeks is doing what Jesus says.

This Saturday and Sunday, we look at the last of his “two ways.” Jesus again calls his listeners to hear his words and put them into practice by talking about the foundation of a building. As we anticipate the conclusion of this sermon series, let’s prepare our hearts for God to work.

A great place to start is considering what it will take for you to be fully engaged and ready to participate in The Row (weekend services) this weekend. Some of us might prepare by rereading these passages and making notes of a few questions. Others could discuss the passage with someone else. Or maybe we dive deeper into the passage by looking at notes in a Study Bible. But we all can pray and ask God to help prepare our hearts to be challenged.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Read the passage above in advance of this weekend. Write down three questions or observations from the passage in a journal, piece of paper, or your mobile phone to prepare your heart for the weekend worship time.
