TODAY’S MESSAGE

Paul’s work in Ephesus impacts the whole Roman province of Asia. Luke, a traveling companion of Paul and the author of Acts, makes this clear in today’s verse. This means millions of people had the opportunity to hear about Jesus because of what happened in Ephesus. It’s a massive breakthrough for the Jesus-message. But it didn’t happen overnight. It was the result of almost three years of difficult work.

This week, we’ll look at Paul’s plan, why we need to be open to change and the significance of sticking with it. These three things will help us experience a breakthrough in our own spiritual life and as a church community. Sometimes we experience significant growth in a short time. Something about following Jesus just clicks, and we drastically change how we make decisions and treat people. But those times are rare. Most spiritual growth comes from the three things we unpack this week.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Open your journal to page 30. Take a moment to think about where you are spiritually right now. Rate your desire to grow spiritually on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being “I’m not sure I care that much” and 10 being “this is the most important thing in my life.” Journal 2-3 sentences about why you feel that way. Write a prayer asking God to help you desire to grow and make it clear where you need to grow.
