TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Put the bread of the Presence on this table to be before me at all times. Exodus 25:30

Read: Exodus 25:23-30
Listen:
Exodus 25

TODAY’S MESSAGE

God designs an ornate table for his dwelling. This beautiful, gold-covered piece sounds much like a dinner table. He includes plates, dishes, pitchers and bowls for the offerings this table will hold. Final is the bread of the Presence that is to be on the table at all times. This table represents God’s desire for friendship and connection with his people. The God of the universe desires to not only be with his people but to have a meal and connect with them.

Jesus, God’s Son, has a mission to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). His strategy for reaching people is often through meals. He says “The Son of Man came eating and drinking” (Luke 7:34a). He is the fulfillment of God’s desire to be with his people—connecting with us to restore us.

There’s plenty of room at God’s table. Jesus says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me” (Revelation 3:20). Jesus paid the price for our sins through his sinless life, death and resurrection. He invites us to the table and restores our broken relationship with God.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

If you’ve never received the gift of forgiveness and salvation through Jesus, you can do so today. Pray and tell Jesus you believe he is God’s Son and that he paid the price for your sin. Thank him for welcoming you to God’s table. If you’ve accepted God’s gift of salvation, thank God today for being part of his family and your connection with him.
