TODAY’S MESSAGE

The Christian life is a process that begins with an act of faith and is lived by a faith that continues to grow. Physical life requires air, food, rest and exercise. And our spiritual life requires certain things for growth too such as God’s word (the Bible), prayer, Christian community and obedience to how God tells us to live. Knowing his word is vital to living the life God created for us.

In 2021, we read online through the New Testament in Beyond the Weekend. This year, we begin a 2022 Bible Memory Practice where we memorize one Bible verse a month. Memorization might recall bad feelings from past school tests. But our 2022 Bible Memory Practice isn’t for a test. Our 2022 Bible Memory Practice helps us develop spiritual roots to tap into the power of God’s word. The Holy Spirit uses these verses throughout our lives to build a strong, exciting and growing relationship with God.

There are many easy ways to memorize verses. Pick one or another to try. (1) Write the verse on a notecard or type it in your mobile to say daily. (2) Write it on notes to stick where you will quickly see them. (3) Make a lock screen and review it every time you open your phone. (4) Repeat it with your family every night at dinner. (5) Write it on a whiteboard, say it aloud and then erase one word each day.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Choose a memorization method and start this month with Psalm 119:11. Ask God to help you remember and apply it. You’ll receive a new verse next month. At year’s end, you will have 12 different verses recorded in your heart to recall anytime and anywhere.
