TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?” “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Mark 14:61b-62

Read: Mark 14:55-65
Listen:
Mark 14

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Jesus faces death on a cross, one of the most gruesome modes of death ever invented. Who can blame him for praying, “Abba, Father… Please take this cup of suffering away from me” (Mark 14:36 NLT). But who would expect him also to pray, “Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” Nevertheless, Jesus tells God he is willing to follow the plan to redeem all humanity through his torturous death.

Jesus could easily talk his way out of the false accusations at his trial. Instead, he follows the plan and remains faithful to the truth that incriminates him. When asked if he’s the Messiah, Jesus answers, “I Am” (Yahweh in Hebrew). This is the name God gives when Moses asks who he is (Exodus 3:13-14). Jesus declares his true identity even though he knows they will kill him for it.

Thankfully, Jesus remains faithful until death and is raised from the dead. We have difficulty staying faithful to God in both large and small moments. Jesus shows us that yielding to God accomplishes his will and produces good everlasting fruit in our lives. Jesus’s faithfulness anchors us so we not left in sin, still separated from the goodness of God for all eternity (1 Corinthians 15:17).

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Listen to the Ada Worship team as they sing “King of My Heart.” Thank Jesus for his faithfulness so we can experience God’s goodness. “And let the King of my heart be the wind inside my sails, the anchor in the waves. Oh, He is my song… Cause you are good.”
