April 29 | A Restoration

April 29, 2022

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:5

Read: Revelation 21:1-5
Listen:
Revelation 21

TODAY’S MESSAGE

The story of the Bible tells us how people have broken their relationship with God, each other and the world. We see this in the garden, Israel and today. But that’s not the end of the story. Jesus’s death on the cross and his resurrection defeat the brokenness of sin. One day, he will return and make everything new. He will fully restore our relationship with God and each other. There will be no more death, crying or pain (Revelation 21:4). What sin wrecked in the first garden will be fully restored in a new garden. He will bring complete restoration to the earth.

This part of the story gives us great hope for the future. It also sheds light on our purpose today. God still desires that we know, reflect and partner with him. We know him more deeply as we spend time in his story revealed in the Bible. We reflect who God is in our relationships as we follow Jesus more closely. We partner with his restorative work as we love and serve in the church and our community and share his message of hope and love with the world.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Spend time asking God to help you live out his restoration in the world around you. Write in your journal what he reveals, and thank him for his work and what he will continue to do until he returns.
