TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

All Scripture is God-breathed… so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Read: 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Listen:
2 Timothy 3

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Timothy grows up learning the Old Testament Scriptures from his mother, a Jewish Christian. This solid spiritual background motivates Paul to bring Timothy on his second missionary journey and train him to be a leader. Yet, even with this Scriptural influence, Timothy needs to be reminded of the importance of God’s words to his life. Paul intends to fortify Timothy’s faith in God’s Word—and strengthen him for spiritual leadership to those around him.

What if our devotions aren’t just for us? Or when we listen to a sermon or study the Bible? We may not be pastors, but we also need to share what we learn from Scripture with others. Some ways to do that would be to share with a friend something we just learned that is helping us. Or share a verse (like our 2022 Bible Memory Practice verse) with someone we work with who needs encouragement. Inviting an acquaintance to this sermon series could motivate them to get into the Bible.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

As you go through your day, ask God to give you an opportunity to encourage someone with something from God’s Word that has encouraged you.

MATTHEW 22:37-39
Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
