TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Over the past six weeks, we’ve looked at the story of the Bible through questions. God invites us into this story, told in a library of books, to know him and know how he created us to be. We discover his Word is reliable and thoroughly equips us. God breathed these words to shape our lives. He invites us to trust his Word is true yet welcomes us to bring all of our doubts. We find God’s Word is solid, a truth we can build our lives on. Yet it is also soft, not meant to bully or control us. Instead, the Bible welcomes us into a relationship with the Lord, who emptied himself for us. We can trust he has given us the books we need within the Bible and has preserved it for us throughout generations. God is the same throughout Scripture, one we can trust and rely on, even when we don’t fully understand.

The Bible isn’t just words on a page. It’s living and active, able to move into the deepest parts of us. We become a friend of Scripture by spending time reading, listening, praying and enjoying it. We find it trustworthy, like an old friend who speaks truth to us and shapes us to be more like Jesus.

PHILIPPIANS 4:5b–7
The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
