TODAY’S MESSAGE

This month’s memory verse focuses on trusting God. Much like loving God with all our heart, soul and mind (Matthew 22:37-40), this verse teaches us to trust God with all we have. The book of Proverbs teaches what true wisdom involves. In this passage, the author reveals that trusting God is necessary for a wise life. We trust God when we believe he can and will do what is best for us. The author urges us to give up our agendas and instead rely on God’s ways. We can be confident that God will show us the best path for our life through his wisdom, power and goodness. God desires us to invite him into every situation, and ask for his direction, not just in hard things but in everyday events too.

As we come to depend on God, he will keep us on his path and away from sin (Psalm 119:11). He will continue to do his good work in us (Philippians 1:6) and grow the fruits of his Spirit in us (Galatians 5:22-23). And when the path seems challenging, we can trust that God is still working for our good (Romans 8:28). As we grow in trust and submission to him, we can set aside anxiety and, through prayer, experience his peace (Philippians 4:5b-7).

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Begin to memorize Proverbs 3:5-6. One way to remember is to associate each phrase with a body part. Trust in the Lord (head) with all your heart (heart) and lean not on your own understanding (chest); in all your ways (hands) submit to him (knees), and he will make your paths straight (feet).
