TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

… Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well. 1Thessalonians 2:8

Read: 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8
Listen:
1 Thessalonians 2

TODAY’S MESSAGE

If the church is a family and more than a building, you don’t become a family member by showing up for weekend services. The building is only a place where you can learn about the Gospel and how to become a part of God’s family.

Gospel is a word meaning “good news.” The good news is that God loves us and pursues us! Our relationship with God was broken when Adam and Eve chose not to trust by doing the one thing God asked them not to. Their disobedience (called sin) has been passed along, leaving us in bad need of repair. But God didn’t leave us to struggle alone in our brokenness. God reached out through the work of Jesus who died in our place to do what we can’t do—take away the sin that separates us from God. Good news, indeed!

We’re adopted into God’s family when we receive Jesus’s gift and believe in him. Jesus gives us the right to become children of God and members of his family (John 1:12-13). Paul shared the Gospel, and many Thessalonians became members of God’s family. Paul helps them grow spiritually by sharing his life.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

If you haven’t accepted the gift of Jesus dying in your place, you can do that right now and you will become a member of God’s family. You don’t have to perform spectacular deeds but simply tell Jesus you believe he died for you and invite him to be your leader. Contact us at btw@adabible.org for a conversation about the next step. Listen to the worship song “Resurrecting” and focus on what Jesus did for us.
