TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Joshua 1:7

Read: Joshua 1:7-8
Listen:
Joshua 1

TODAY’S MESSAGE

God promises to be with Joshua and urges him to be strong and courageous. God also does something very gracious. He makes it clear what Joshua’s job is. He instructs Joshua to know the Scriptures and stay on God’s right path. As he spends time with God’s words and chooses to trust God and follow his commands, God will give Joshua success in all he calls him to do.

The path to a full life that honors God is the same for us as for Joshua. As God’s truth guides our lives, we can prevent a mountain of anxiety and fear. Sometimes our fear can result from straying off God’s best path for our lives. We may suffer fear of someone finding out about our secret struggles and hidden habits. We may fear a relationship imploding due to sinful choices we’ve made. We may fear losing a position due to lies we’ve told to get ahead. Watch this video clip as Pastor Aaron Buer reminds us we can always turn back to God and experience his grace and forgiveness.

Knowing God’s Word, making it part of our lives and letting it guide our choices can prevent fear. God’s way is the best way to live, and he has graciously given us all we need to make choices that honor him. This is one reason we memorize God’s Word. As we internalize his words, the Holy Spirit brings them to mind as we need them. The Spirit will remind us of God’s Words to help us make the God-honoring choice, resulting in peace.

JAMES 1:19–20
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.
