TODAY’S MESSAGE

We continue our 2022 Bible Memory Practice in October with a verse that centers on what glorifying God looks like. The Old Testament prophet Micah tells us glorifying God is about our character—not a checklist of doing good things. God wants us to demonstrate his character at all times. We model his character and bring him glory when we act justly (do the right thing with equity to all people), show mercy (compassion and forgiveness) in all situations, and willingly yield our will to his will.

This week in Beyond the Weekend, we examine the emotion of desire. God is glorified in this area of our life when we allow him to be in control. Micah 6:8 reminds us to be humble as we learn and practice God’s teaching on desire, and give justice and mercy to those who struggle with ungodly desire.

We offer each week ideas to help you memorize Bible verses. An old standby is to daily write down the verse, say it out loud, then practice saying it in front of the mirror or to a person willing to listen. Repetition is the key to remembering.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Commit to memorizing Micah 6:8. Ask God to write it on your heart and bring it to mind when you need it. Revisit all of our Scripture memory so far at beyondtheweekend.org/biblememorypractice and see if you can say each one out loud.
