TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“This was the dream, and now we will interpret it to the king. Your majesty, you are the king of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion and power and might and glory; in your hands he has placed all mankind and the beasts of the field and the birds in the sky.” Daniel 2:36-38a

Read: Daniel 2:39-48
Listen:
Daniel 2

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Daniel’s interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream is a fast-moving account of the future. It features men and animals, power and might and metals of various kinds. It also features kingdoms rising and kingdoms falling. Except one kingdom, the final kingdom. It’s a kingdom Daniel describes as one “that will never be destroyed,” one that will “endure forever.”

This eternal kingdom, ruled by God himself, was sought by God’s people for hundreds of years. Imagine the excitement when Jesus says, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near” (Matthew 4:17). With these words, Jesus announces the beginning of the kingdom that God revealed through Daniel to Nebuchadnezzar.

But the fullness of this kingdom is yet to come. At some point in the future, the reign of Jesus in heaven will come fully to earth. Watch this video clip as Pastor Jeff Manion explains about how we will experience a place where “there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:4). Ruled by King Jesus, it’s a kingdom where sin will be no more and everything made new. Longing for this kingdom, we pray, “Come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20).

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Thank God for providing the way into this kingdom through the sacrifice of Jesus for our sin. If you have not yet placed your faith and trust in Jesus, we would invite you to do so today. If you have questions about how to do this, contact us at btw@adabible.org. We would love to discuss this with you. If you’ve already placed your faith and trust in Jesus, thank Jesus for the promise of a secure future. Ask him to help you make his kingdom a reality through your actions today.
