October 28 | Courage in Numbers

October 28, 2022

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon—Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego—who pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They neither serve your gods nor worship the image of gold you have set up.” Daniel 3:12

TODAY’S MESSAGE

It’s interesting to note that Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego disobey the command to bow to the golden statue as a group. It isn’t just one guy against the king, but all three. They probably helped each other make the decision to obey their God and disobey the king. They teach us there is courage in numbers when it’s difficult to be faithful.

We aren’t meant to live the Christian life alone nor to practice what we believe in isolation. The Bible consistently teaches that together we give support and encouragement to each other. Jesus sent his disciples out in pairs (Luke 10:10), Paul teams with Barnabas (Acts 13:2), Moses had Aaron (Exodus 4), and David had his band of men.

Participating with others of like mind and heart makes us strong and helps us grow. This is why Ada Bible does small groups for ages two and older. When the hard times come—and they will—having a group of people to come alongside us with prayer and support can make all the difference in helping us not lose ground and stay the course.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY
