TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. Daniel 6:3-4

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Daniel faced a great deal of adversity in his life. The Babylonians conquered his nation, and Daniel was taken from his home to serve their king. Many years later, the Babylonians are defeated by the Persians. A new king comes in, and once again, Daniel stands out. The Persian king respects Daniel and elevates him to a position of significant responsibility. Yet, not everyone is happy with Daniel’s quick ascent to influence. Some of the administrators and satraps plot against Daniel. How will Daniel respond, and how will God be honored through this situation?

These same questions apply to us in our situations today. It’s hard enough for us to honor God when things are going well. But when we face adversity, we might wonder how to respond and how to honor God in the midst of it.

This looks different for each of us. Maybe it’s the challenge of new management, boss, teacher or coach. Perhaps it is feeling betrayed or hurt by someone close to us. It might be about a health or personal issue. Whatever our struggles, we see how Daniel honors God in his adversity this week and consider how we can do the same.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Consider what area of your life you are struggling with or facing adversity. Then, ask God to help you to honor him in that area by praying something like this, “God help me to honor you, even in adversity.”

MATTHEW 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
