Listen:
Daniel 6

TODAY’S MESSAGE

God miraculously rescues Daniel. The king is overjoyed and puts out a proclamation to his whole kingdom. He tells everyone in his kingdom that they must worship the God of Daniel. It’s an amazing moment, but Daniel has already witnessed something similar. In Daniel 3, King Nebuchadnezzar issues a similar proclamation (Daniel 3:29) condemning anyone who spoke against God. What’s evident in the book of Daniel is that God is at work in his people, even in this time of exile. The book involves Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, King Nebuchadnezzar and King Darius—but the main character is God. God is the one who builds up kings and kingdoms, tears them down when needed and is at work at all times.

Throughout the book of Daniel, we see a few key themes: the dangers of pride, the importance of treating people respectfully, and trust in God. These same themes are essential to us today. As we engage in our world, these lessons can help us honor God even when it feels like no one else is. May we be people and a church that lives humbly, treats people with respect, and trusts God in our adversity.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Think back on the main themes of the book of Daniel: the dangers of pride, the importance of treating people with respect and trusting in God. Which of these three main themes will you focus on over the next few weeks? Ask God to help you pursue growth in this area.

MATTHEW 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
