TODAY’S MESSAGE

Christmas memories are probably still fresh today. The day might’ve been filled with family, friends and strangers over dinner, movies or games. It might’ve been something different and unexpected too. But most important about yesterday is the opportunity to celebrate Jesus’s coming, “the Word [who] became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1:14a). We remember the One who is “a light of revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of [his] people Israel” (Luke 2:32).

We want to take time this week to talk about the Bible verses from this year’s Bible Memory Practice. Each month, we encouraged you to memorize a passage of Scripture. (1) These verses helped us better understand the God of the Bible and to become more like Jesus. (2) The verses drew from the Bible books of History, Wisdom Literature, the Prophets, Gospels and Epistles. (3) The verses highlight biblical truths that help us build a strong, exciting and growing relationship with God.

Our verse for February was Philippians 1:6. This verse reminds us God is the one who does the good work in us. As we memorize this verse, we can be confident that God will mature us and help us grow “in the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:11). God is faithful to keep doing this work until our lives here on earth end, or Jesus returns.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Review Philippians 1:6. Music offers a creative and fun way to commit Scripture to memory. A simple internet search using a Bible verse reference often provides a variety of songs based on that Scripture. Here is just one song based on today’s verse you can use as a memory tool.
