TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Then he [Jesus] said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” Luke 8:48

Read: Luke 8:48
Listen:
Luke 8

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Like many others in the crowd, this woman has come to Jesus hoping to be cured. She has suffered for over a decade and has nowhere else to go. Because of what she had heard, she believes Jesus can do what no one else has been able to do. Her trust in him and his power to take the disease from her motivates her to reach out and touch his garment. Jesus demonstrates his compassion and power as he heals a woman who is desperate and alone. But even as he does, many more just like her are not healed. The work Jesus started is not yet finished.

When Jesus heals this woman and stops her bleeding, it is a “taste” of what we will experience in the new heaven and the new earth. It’s what the apostle John describes in the last book of the Bible when he writes of Jesus, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:4). John tells us is what we know is missing—the complete restoration of all that is wrong. It’s that part of the “good news” we will one day enjoy.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Thank God for the healing Jesus has done in your life and the complete healing to come at some point in the future. Listen to the Ada Bible Worship Team as they sing, “Thank You, Lord,” and use these lyrics to shape your prayer, “Thank you, Lord, for your mercy, thank you, Lord, for your grace. Every time I turned around, you were there to make a way.”
