TODAY’S MESSAGE

Jesus’s encounter with the ten lepers in Luke 17 isn’t the only time he heals someone of leprosy. In Luke 5:12-14, Jesus heals a different man from leprosy, and in that situation, Jesus heals the man instantly. It’s interesting that Jesus takes a different approach in Luke 17. This points to a Jesus’s personalized approach of treating each person individually. However, it also demonstrates how God often meets people—in the going. God often meets people as they are moving toward him.

There is a lesson for us in this. Sometimes we can get trapped waiting on God to reveal all that he is up to. But the truth is God often meets us along the way as we pursue him and take faithful steps forward. For example, to figure out the best place to serve is to just start serving somewhere. God often reveals our gifting over time. When we wonder where God might be leading with a job situation or decision, a great start is to prayerfully take steps that honor him. When we wonder how to grow in our faith or understand the Bible better, a great start is to begin reading our Bible and praying. God has a way of meeting us in the going as we take faithful steps toward him.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Are you waiting on God for something? Is there a small, faithful step you could take towards God to meet him in the going? Consider your next steps and what first step you will take to move in that direction.
