TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” John 8:11b

Read: John 8:9-11
Listen: John 8

TODAY’S MESSAGE

There are many surprising things in this story of Jesus and the woman found in adultery. Perhaps the greatest is that Jesus, who is God in the flesh, does not judge and condemn the woman. Apparently, this isn’t her first adulterous tryst, but a pattern in her life. Notice the order of what Jesus says. First, he offers her mercy, grace and forgiveness which is the opposite of condemnation. Next, he tells her to make a life change.

This woman’s entire life was probably changed from that day on. Our lives can too. Just like this woman, we have things in our lives that need to go. We may be stuck in cycles of sin that dishonor God such as: drinking too much, internet porn, anger issues, fear of the future, holding a grudge, vulgar language or insulting and degrading others. God will never make you change your behavior. He wants you to make some changes in response to his love and forgiveness.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Maybe you know that Jesus died on the cross in your place but have never told God you trust that he died for you personally. Today is the day to stop circling the truth and land—accept salvation. Maybe you have accepted Jesus’s gift of salvation, but you still struggle with something you know is wrong. Give it to Jesus. Ask for forgiveness and for his help to turn away and move on. If you have questions, reach out to us at btw@adabible.org. We would love to meet you and talk.
