TODAY’S MESSAGE

The Bible shares many stories about people of great faith who hit a breaking point. They often follow God with all their heart, yet things don’t turn out as expected. Scripture doesn’t shy away from showing their spiritual and emotional meltdowns. Grief, confusion, disappointment and even despair flood their hearts. Some of the godliest people experience massive breakdowns.

Our new sermon series shows us how hitting a breaking point is normal. It happens to the most faithful followers of God. We will see great men and women of faith like Moses, Elijah, Jeremiah, Hannah and Hagar experience deep disappointment and grief—and what happens when they turn to God in it.

Sooner or later, we all hit a breaking point. The most important lesson from the meltdowns in Scripture is learning how to prepare for one. We will learn how to endure with our hearts and spirits intact. This week, we explore how to endure well through the life of Moses. Through his example, we learn how to set appropriate expectations, be honest with God and remember his work in the world and our lives.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

One way to get the most out of this sermon series is by committing to be present and engaged. Maybe it’s time to begin attending weekly. Possibly, God is prompting you to come and invite a friend. Consider what it would look like to be present for these next four weeks and ask God how you can increase your commitment.
