Text: Galatians 5.16-26

By spending time in The Chair we provide God an opportunity to speak direction into our lives. Not that God is incapable of speaking to us outside of The Chair, but we often have a hard time listening when we’re cruising along at 100 mph. We need to slow down if we’re to hear and understand God’s provision for our lives.

God desires to help us with those things that are wrong in our hearts – and it’s the practice of reflection that helps us narrow in on those weaknesses. As we identify those areas of weakness, we then have the opportunity to invite God’s provision and ask for his help.

One helpful tool God has given us is a list of character traits reflective of a life “in sync” with the Holy Spirit. It’s found in Galatians 5.22-23 and is often referred to as the “fruits of the Spirit.” A great practice to begin is to read through this list and ask God to show you which trait(s) you need. Some days it may be a fresh infusion of joy. Other days, it could be patience or peace.

Take a minute to reread Galatians 5.22-23 and identify one trait you need today. Ask God to help you practice that trait in all your interactions. Make this a regular practice of your time in The Chair.
