TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things…Come and share your master’s happiness!’” Matthew 25:21

Read: Matthew 25:17–30
Listen:
Matthew 25

TODAY’S MESSAGE

The master returns and does an accounting with his servants. Two faithfully invested his gold and heard the words, “Well done.” But the third servant tells his master, “I knew that you are a hard man…so I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground.” This servant did nothing with his gift. Worse, he doesn’t understand his master.

We learn in The School of Contentment that knowing and understanding God is the basis for every class. Not understanding his master’s character, the third servant lives in fear. Not investing our God-given resources in God’s Kingdom reflects a heart that fears God, doesn’t understand him or what he has done for us.

Jesus, our Master, will return to earth (Hebrews 9:28). When he does, Jesus-followers will be accountable for how they invested his gifts for his Kingdom. Those who invest well will hear the sweet words, “Well done” and celebrate with God. Those who bury their gifts will miss out.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Perfect love casts out fear. God’s perfect love should compel us to invest in his Kingdom. Listen to our Ada Bible Worship sing Stand in Your Love and let these words sink in, “My fear doesn’t stand a chance when I stand in your love.”
