January 20 | Renew Your Commitment

January 20, 2022

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“See!” he said to all the people. “This stone will be a witness against us. It has heard all the words the Lord has said to us. It will be a witness against you if you are untrue to your God.” Joshua 24:27

Read: Joshua 24:15–28
Listen:
Joshua 24

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Joshua calls the leaders together and reminds them of their history with God. This isn’t just a reminiscing time before Joshua dies. It isn’t a retirement party. Joshua has gathered the leaders together to present them with a choice. They can either serve this God who has taken care of them or the gods of the surrounding nations. Joshua wants them to realize it can’t be both. It’s one or the other. The leaders choose God and set up a stone to commemorate the decision.

Joshua calls the people to choose, and God wants us to choose to follow him too. Today is the perfect day to invite God to reignite, restore and renew your faith. God is trustworthy and we can follow him. God can handle whatever circumstances we bring to him. It’s up to us to renew our faith. A renewed faith is a faith that “fear[s] the Lord and serve[s] him with all faithfulness” (Joshua 24:14). It gets rid of the things we were previously trusting in. A renewed faith goes all-in on God.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Joshua told the Israelites, “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.” Make that choice today. If you’d like to have a conversation about what it means to begin or renew your faith, reach out to us at btw@adabible.org.
